Thoughts and the difference!

A famous writer was in his study room. He picked up his pen and started writing:
**Last year, I had a surgery and my gall bladder was removed. I had to stay stuck to the bed due to this surgery for a long time.
**The same year I reached the age of 60 years and had to give up my favourite job. I had spent 30 years of my life in this publishing company.
**The same year I experienced the sorrow of the death of my father.
**And in the same year my son failed in his medical exam because he had a car accident. He had to stay in bed at hospital with the cast on for several days. The destruction of car was another loss.
At the end he wrote: Alas! It was such bad year!!
When the writer's wife entered the room, she found her husband looking sad lost in his thoughts. From behind his back she read what was written on the paper. She left the room silently and came back with another paper and placed it on side of her husband's writing.
When the writer saw this paper, he found this written on it:
**Last year I finally got rid of my gall bladder due to which I had spent years in pain.
**I turned 60 with sound health and got retired from my job. Now I can utilize my time to write something better with more focus and peace.
**The same year my father, at the age of 95, without depending on anyone or without any critical condition met his Creator.
**The same year, God blessed my son with a new life. My car was destroyed but my son stayed alive without getting any disability.
At the end she wrote:
This year was an immense blessing of God and it passed well!!
See!!
The same incidents but different viewpoints. If we ponder with this viewpoint that what could have happened more, we would truly become thankful to the Almighty.
Moral : In daily lives we must see that its not happiness that makes us grateful but gratefulness that makes us happy.
There is always, always, always something to be thankful for.
Stay Blessed

Beyond Comprehension.......

No one hears me, understands me
I speak in silence
hoping that someone will see my words, my message
hoping to find love, it has arrived so divine.
I wish for a stronger, better life
filled with everlasting touch
I dream the future, but hold the past
My body is brimmed with so many confusions.
Am I really here experiencing fullness?
I must be, the pain is so real
the hurt I feel could never be imagined
but I will pull through into greatness
and destroy whatever faces into me.
As I struggle I will fight until the end
Whenever it may come

Treatment For Depressive Disorder

Depression is a state of bad or low mood that can affect a person’s behaviour, activity, thoughts & also the sense of well-being. Once in depression, a person can feel helpless, guilty, irritated, anxious and also lethargic at times. You may lose the interest to do activities that were once very interesting to them. There can also be a decrease in appetite for you. You may also get the a few suicidal thoughts when in depression. Depression might be a symptom to major depressive disorder or just a reaction to normal like events.
Major depressive disorder is a mental disorder caused by several factors such as continuous bad/low mood or low self-esteem. This disorder has an adverse effect on a person’s day-to-day life like personal life, work life or school life while also affecting the family. The most common onset is at around ages btw 20-30, with a later peak between 30-40 years.
Treatment:
The diagnosis of this disorder depends mainly on your activities, your behaviour reported by your friends or relatives and also by mental status examination. Generally people affected by this disorder are treated by:
1.Counselling
2.Anti-depressants
3.Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT)
4.Electroconvulsive Therapy(for minors only)
5.Hospitalization(rare cases)
The course of the disorder may vary depending upon the extent of affectedness. Sometimes it might be for a few weeks or in some cases may last for lifelong.
Clinical Assessment: A diagnostic assessment may be conducted by a general practitioner who is continuously assessing your behaviour and current circumstance. The practitioner may also discuss ways of regulating mood by alcohol or drug use. A mental state examination is also carried out, which is an assessment of your current behaviour, thoughts, in particular the pattern of thoughts and the idea of self-esteem. Sometimes, rating scales are also used to determine the effect of depression in a person. A cut off point is set to determine the extent of fault in the person’s mind.
Anti-Depressants: Many patients are bound to receive this medications for the cure of depression disorder. It can take weeks, months or even years for its cure. Some of the widely used anti-depressants sub groups are:
Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors
Dopamine Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors
Serotonin  Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors
There also a numerous side-effects to the above mentioned drugs such as:
1.Weight Gain
2.Nervousness
3.Weakness
4.Dry Mouth
5.Nausea
6.Abnormal Ejaculation
7.Headache/Migraine
8.Decrease Sexual Interest
Our mood is affected by neurotransmitter which are present in our brain and mainly sent and received by brain cells (neurons). When serotonin and norepinephrine levels reduce in our brain we become sad or depressed. The antidepressants maintain the balance of these chemicals in our brains and effect our mood. Thus in most of the cases antidepressants are advised for use.
Major Depressive disorder is a disorder which is harmful not only for the affected person but also to people around him. It can be cured completely with the use of anti-depressants and other treatments over a period of time.

Ten Rules for Good Studying

1. Use recall. After you read a page, look away and recall the main ideas. Highlight very little, and never highlight anything you haven’t put in your mind first by recalling. Try recalling main ideas when you are walking to class or in a different room from where you originally learned it. An ability to recall—to generate the ideas from inside yourself—is one of the key indicators of good learning.
2. Test yourself. On everything. All the time. Flash cards are your friend.
3. Chunk your problems. Chunking is understanding and practicing with a problem solution so that it can all come to mind in a flash. After you solve a problem, rehearse it. Make sure you can solve it cold—every step. Pretend it’s a song and learn to play it over and over again in your mind, so the information combines into one smooth chunk you can pull up whenever you want.
4. Space your repetition. Spread out your learning in any subject a little every day, just like an athlete. Your brain is like a muscle—it can handle only a limited amount of exercise on one subject at a time.
5. Alternate different problem-solving techniques during your practice. Never practice too long at any one session using only one problem-solving technique—after a while, you are just mimicking what you did on the previous problem. Mix it up and work on different types of problems. This teaches you both how and when to use a technique. (Books generally are not set up this way, so you’ll need to do this on your own.) After every assignment and test, go over your errors, make sure you understand why you made them, and then rework your solutions. To study most effectively, handwrite (don’t type) a problem on one side of a flash card and the solution on the other. (Handwriting builds stronger neural structures in memory than typing.) You might also photograph the card if you want to load it into a study app on your smartphone. Quiz yourself randomly on different types of problems. Another way to do this is to randomly flip through your book, pick out a problem, and see whether you can solve it cold.
6. Take breaks. It is common to be unable to solve problems or figure out concepts in math or science the first time you encounter them. This is why a little study every day is much better than a lot of studying all at once. When you get frustrated with a math or science problem, take a break so that another part of your mind can take over and work in the background.
            7. Use explanatory questioning and simple analogies. Whenever you are struggling with a concept, think to yourself, How can I explain this so that a ten-year-old could understand it? Using an analogy really helps, like saying that the flow of electricity is like the flow of water. Don’t just think your explanation—say it out loud or put it in writing. The additional effort of speaking and writing allows you to more deeply encode (that is, convert into neural memory structures) what you are learning.
8. Focus. Turn off all interrupting beeps and alarms on your phone and computer, and then turn on a timer for twenty-five minutes. Focus intently for those twenty-five minutes and try to work as diligently as you can. After the timer goes off, give yourself a small, fun reward. A few of these sessions in a day can really move your studies forward. Try to set up times and places where studying—not glancing at your computer or phone—is just something you naturally do.
9. Eat your frogs first. Do the hardest thing earliest in the day, when you are fresh.
10. Make a mental contrast. Imagine where you’ve come from and contrast that with the dream of where your studies will take you. Post a picture or words in your workspace to remind you of your dream. Look at that when you find your motivation lagging. This work will pay off both for you and those you love!
